Free from Floral Foam
Before stopping the use of floral foam, Florage used around 100 bricks per month.
Since August 2022, that's over 3,500 bricks, meaning we've avoided releasing more than approx. 35,000 plastic-bag-equivalents of toxic microplastic into the local Launceston environment.

Free from Single-Use Plastic
We’ve chosen not to use plastic cellophane to wrap our bouquets, instead switching to wet Biodegradable Flower Bags.Â
With each sheet typically measuring 50cm x 70cm, and an average of 10 bouquets sold each weekday, we have prevented approx. 2,730 square metres of plastic from being used and discarded to landfill. That’s more than 10 full-sized tennis courts’ worth of single-use plastic avoided.

Our Mission
Style & Sustainability
We are a premium and stylish florist, proving that sustainability and environmental responsibility need not come at the expense of quality or visual impact. Beauty, quality, and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand, and we aim to help shift both consumer expectations and industry standards.Â

Reduced Waste
Since purchasing Florage in August 2022, we immediately stopped using floral foam, the toxic, non-biodegradable green brick made of phenol-formaldehyde plastic you will see used in boxed floral arrangements in most florists in Tasmania. Floral foam breaks down into microplastics that leach formaldehyde and phenols, contaminating waterways and soil, and can be ingested by aquatic life.
All our green waste is collected and composted by Golden Brown, Tasmania’s first commercial composting service, which diverts our organic waste from landfill and returns nutrients to the soil in local farms and gardens.
. . .
Locally-Sourced Flowers
We avoid sourcing flowers from wholesalers who import from overseas. Around half of all flowers sold each day in Australia are flown in from abroad, contributing to significant emissions and an often ethically unregulated global supply chain.
Instead, our Designer’s Choice model allows us to work directly with Tasmanian growers where possible and seasonally dependent. Our cold Tasmanian climate does constrain us to importing from the mainland in winter, but field to vase is the aim. This supports small local businesses, reduces floral miles, and enables seasonal, low-waste arrangements that reflect Tasmania’s natural beauty.Â
